A simple checklist for routes, transfers, payment and current service information.
Check the whole route, not just the train line
The final walk, station exit and interchange can matter as much as the time spent on the train.
Use current network information
As of September 2026, LTA says Singapore has more than 140 stations across six MRT lines, with additional rail projects continuing to expand the network. Use LTA’s rail map and journey tools for current information.
Tap in and out consistently
LTA advises contactless users to use the same payment card or mobile device at entry and exit so the correct fare can be calculated.
Allow more time at major interchanges
Stations with several lines can involve longer walks between platforms. A little buffer makes the journey less stressful.
Check operating updates before a time-critical trip
For engineering works, extensions or service changes, rely on LTA and the rail operators rather than an old map or screenshot.
